Clearing Energy Before the New Season

Heavy energy feels like a dark cloud hanging over me whenever I walk. Sometimes I feel it surrounding my torso like a hug - but not the comforting kind.
My summers are pretty much my own, so it's difficult for me to let go of the need for spontaneity as I head into the fall/winter seasons. With over 60 students per semester, that's a lot of grading, and if I don't have a routine, the grading won't get done in a timely manner.
I love spontaneity, but the fall/winter season doesn't leave a great deal of room for it. That's the energy I need to clear - the resistance to structure, the mourning of freedom, the anxiety about responsibility.
💫 A Reiki Moment: Crown Chakra Reset
When your mind feels cluttered with competing priorities and your head is full of lists, your crown chakra needs clearing.
Place both hands gently on top of your head and close your eyes. Breathe deeply and imagine a stream of white light flowing down through the top of your head, washing away mental clutter and overwhelm.
Say to yourself: "I release what crowds my mind. I welcome clarity and peace."
I like to work with the crown chakra to release and reset because I typically have several things going on in my head at once. I have to get myself quiet so I can the quiet the lists of things I have to accomplish.
📝 Words of Encouragement
Seasonal transitions require us to let go of one version of ourselves to make room for another. Summer-me gets to be spontaneous and free-flowing. Fall-me needs structure and routine to serve my students well.
Neither version is better or worse. They're both necessary for different seasons of life.
Heavy energy isn't always about big trauma or deep wounds. Sometimes it's just the weight of transition - mourning what was while preparing for what's next.
That's normal. That's human. And it's exactly why we need practices that help us clear what we've outgrown to make space for what's coming.
✨ Put It Into Practice
🖊️ Prompt: Identify the energy that feels heaviest right now - is it around your torso, in your head, somewhere else? Write: "What am I holding onto that I need to release before this new season? What would it feel like to let this go?"
Be specific about where you feel it in your body and what it would feel like to be free of it.
