Writing Through Seasonal Transitions

Seasonal transitions
Seasonal transitions

When the seasons change, I feel it in my skin. My face gets itchy by the jawline - a mild annoyance now, but a signal I've learned to recognize. The weather is getting cool, and my body is the first to know.

I used to rub my skin raw, fighting against this seasonal shift. Now I gently sweep my fingers over it, provide extra moisturizer when needed, and try to ignore it so it won't get inflamed. I've learned to work with my body's signals rather than against them.

September makes me nervous and excited. It's the first day of school all over again but now I'm on the other side of the desk. I used to get cold sores on my lip or near my nose on the first day of school. Now my skin gets mildly irritated, but instead of dread, I feel excitement about meeting my students and learning who they are.

💫 A Reiki Moment: Embracing Transition Energy

Seasonal transitions can feel unsettling in our bodies. Your sacral chakra, the center of change and flow, may require additional support during these transitions.

Place one hand just below your navel and breathe into this space. Imagine a warm, orange light expanding with each inhale. As you breathe, repeat to yourself:

"I flow with the seasons of my life. Change brings growth."

Feel your body relaxing into the natural rhythm of transition rather than resisting it.

📝 Words of Encouragement

This is the time I check my wardrobe to see if there's anything I might need for the coming season and throw out anything I don't need. This is a good time to list things I need to get done before classes begin and my schedule gets busy.

Seasonal transitions invite us to take inventory-not just of our closets, but of our lives. What needs to be released? What needs to be welcomed in?

Your body knows before your mind does. Those little signals, skin irritation, nervous energy, the excited butterflies - are my internal compass pointing me toward what needs attention. How does your body let you know?

Trust your body's wisdom. It's been navigating seasonal changes longer than your thinking mind has been overthinking them.

✨Put It Into Practice

🖊️ Prompt: Write about a time when you trusted yourself and it worked out. How did it feel in your body? What did you learn about your own capabilities?

Then write: "If I fully trusted myself as a (fill in the blank), what would I create next?"

Let yourself dream on paper. Your self-trust grows stronger every time you honor it with action.
